CLIFFORD, PA, MAY 14, 2006
Hurricane Hills new promoters, the Fritz's, hosted their
final AMA District 6 point's race of the season on October 15th
in Clifford, Pennsylvania. Mother Nature provided a chilly but
more importantly, a dry, fall day, which made track conditions
ideal for some great racing action.
Veteran Kawasaki pilot, Darren Edsall led the start of the
opening over 25 A class moto followed closely by Mike Dougherty,
Jason Kear, and Chad Groome. When the lead riders cleared the
downhill triple, the battle for the lead was on between Edsall,
Dougherty and Kear. The top three quickly pulled away from the
rest of the pack. Dougherty had the point by the start of lap
two, which relegated Edsall to second. Kear was two seconds of
Edsall's pace in third. There was a huge gap back to Groome in
fourth. Tim Henry rounded out the top five. Dougherty took the
checkers three seconds ahead of Edsall. Kear, Groome and Mike
Kubick closed out the top five.
Edsall, Kear, Dougherty, Groome and Henry led the start of
the final over 25 A moto of the season. Edsall started lap two
with a two second lead on Dougherty. Kear was two seconds of
Dougherty's pace in third. The gap separating Kear and Groome in
fourth was a whopping 16-seconds. Henry was a solid fifth.
Edsall got the win with a four second lead. Kear, Groom, Kubick
and Henry closed out the top five.
Edsall topped the podium with a 1-2. Kear's 3-2 rides earned
runner-up and Groome closed out the over 25 A podium with a 4-3
tally.
Jeremy Parsons, Matt Vacendak, Josh Haskell and Nick
Peccarelli led the start of the opening 125 C moto. Scott Ferris
had the point by the start of the second leap with Vacendak,
Alex Hildebrand, Peccarelli and Ryan Barre trailing. About half
way into the second lap, Vacendak made a mistake in the big
sweeper by the start and Hildebrand took over second. Vacendak
dropped to third. Hildebrand closed the gap on Ferris and made
the pass for the lead near the end of lap two. Ferris was
displaced to runner-up status. Hildebrand pulled away to a three
second lead that he held to the checkers. Vacendak, Peccarelli,
Ferris and Barre closed out the top five.
Ferris, Ryan Francis, Parsons and Lance Burhans led the start
of the final 125 C moto of the 2006 at Hurricane Hills. Francis
took over the point position at the start of lap two. Trailing
were Hildebrand, Vacendak, Barre and Parsons. Francis quickly
pulled away from the rest of the field and started the fourth
lap with a six second advantage. The top five were all spread
out by the end of lap four. Francis took the checkers with a
four second advantage. Hildebrand, Vacendak, Barre and Parsons
